Andrea Harris Blachman has served on the Contra Costa County Historical Society Board of Directors since 2009.
Andrea was born in Martinez while her father was an engineer at the Shell Refinery. His work eventually transferred him to Shell headquarters in New York City and the family made residence in Westport, Connecticut. It was there that Andrea went to high school and developed her love of history.
Andrea spent two years at Mills College, Oakland, CA., and then finished her Bachelors Degree at UC Davis. Once her children were settled in school in the Concord/Clayton area, Andrea started working as a staff accountant and tax preparer for several local CPA/Tax firms. Andrea and her late husband, Allan Blachman, remained in the area until 2000 before moving back to Martinez.
She continued her interest in non-profit board work and shortly after moving to Martinez, became the volunteer Museum Director of the local Martinez Museum, a position she held until July 2020.
Andrea currently enjoys reading, quilting, doing research on the Harris and Blachman families, and spending time with her 3 adult children and their families…which include 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandsons.
